Whites of Spring - step into Summer
There goes Springtime and the merry month of May, such a vibrant time when wild flowers bring a little sparkle to the coast and countryside.
Thrift Sea Pink and
Scurvy Grass cling onto craggy rocks and Bluebells
carpet the
woods and waysides. New leaves are bright and acid
green, perfect, pristine, before rain and wind can spoil them.
White is
the predominant colour at this time, the delicate May flowers of
the Hawthorne herald the beginning of Summer, along
with Wood Anemone, Cow Parsley, Greater Stitchwort, Wild Strawberry,
Garlic Mustard and Ramsons, which fill the air with
the pungent aroma of garlic. Time for Spring cleaning
and a wardrobe reshuffle too, we need a capsule
wardrobe perfect for holidays, bank holiday breaks,
festivals
and those very special occasions.
Artisans and fashion designers traditionally take inspiration from
nature for the colour palette of their season collections. White will
never go out of fashion so it might be worth investing in a beautiful
statement piece. Midi Skirts, dresses and tops in Broderie Anglaise have re-surfaced through the decades. A pair of white jeans or linen trousers, a white denim jacket, a white tee, white longline shirt any outfit kept up to date with a colourful bucket hat.
Over the past couple of years a pair of white trainers have been a must-have wardrobe staple worn day or night, smart or casual, the ones below are leather with a glittery band perfect to complete any outfit.
