My Winter weather warmer flying the flag for Norway Knits

Oh wow what a start to the New Year, 3 named storms, floods, snow and rain, rain, rain. 0n the bright side its also the start of Fashion Week, music and film awards season where the celebrities seem to be in a "who wears the skimpiest outfit" contest. I mean the winning 'see- through' has to be the low slung nipple ring dress..phew. All creds to those stunners but here in the real world it has been freezing in and out so Ive been literally living in my fleece lined shacket and my faithful Scandi knits and bobble hats . Although I'm not on the Alpine Olympic Team , The Dale of Norway sweater , featured, is my staple winter warmer for walks on the coast and countryside. In 2007 a Faroe Islands knit became iconic in the first Scandi Noir 'The Killing'. The black and white design with a simple star/snowflake pattern was worn by Detective Inspector Sara Lund in all three seasons of the award winning series and so began the Scandi trend. Knit one pearl one - Get knitting. Looks like the good old days are coming back. Art, crafting and crafts, knitting and crochet are amongst the popular things to do these days. Craft Markets, Arts and Craft Fairs & Exhibitions show casing all manner of clever ideas and home-made designs have been drawing the crowds at local markets & events. We recently saw champion diver Tom Daley knitting for Great Britain at the Olympics. Tis now the "season of mists and mellow fruitfulness" so maybe time to hunker down and learn a new hobby. I have spent many hours in the past just hanging around waiting so knitting was a favourite thing to pass away the time and create something special.  I watched my mother knitting for us when we were kids, we used to hold the skein of wool out on our hands which she then wound into a ball/ (traditionally t he yarn used to come off the loom in strands in days gone by) S he then got a knitting machine, not quite as relaxing as the thread always ...
